Instructions While In Temporaries

  • Teeth may be sensitive to cold for up to 2 weeks.  If the teeth are sensitive to hot, chewing, or throbbing, Call Immediately!
  • Make sure you eat as soon as the Novocain wears off.  If you can take aspirin products, then please take 4 Advil with your food to relieve any tenderness on the teeth, or to relieve any tenderness from the Novocain injections.
  • Don’t chew gum, sticky candies, ice, or popcorn kernels on the temporaries.  They may come off or break.
  • The surface texture of the temporaries will be a little rough as compared to your natural teeth.  The final restorations will be very smooth.
  • The dark line on the gum next to the prepared teeth is from taking the impression, and it will disappear within 24 hours.
  • If the temporaries are lost or break, call the office at 716-675-6900, or after hours Dr. Herman can be reached at 716-698-8222.  Uncovered teeth will be very temperature sensitive.
  • You may not be able to floss the temporaries; however the final restorations will be very cleansable.
